Civil Law vs. God's Law
Occasionally, in Church classes, there are questions that go unanswered. Sometimes they aren't pertaining to the subject matter being discussed at the time. Sometimes there isn't sufficient time in the class period to answer every question. Sometimes no one knows what the true answer is. Several weeks ago, a woman asked a question that I didn't feel was fully answered at the time. I wasn't teaching the class, but I heard her repeating the same question, obviously not hearing a satisfying answer. Her question: What should we do if the country's laws are contrary to God's laws? "We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring and sustaining the law." (Article of Faith 12) We believe in obeying the law of the land in which we live.
