August 6th, 2011

August 6th, 2011 is a date that should go down in Josh's memory as a very good day. Grandma and Grandpa Mc. arrived the evening before to spend a few days with the family.

It was a Saturday. We got up that morning, dressed in Sunday clothes, ate breakfast, and climbed into the car to head to the church. Josh and his dad were dressed in white jumpsuits. Pictures were taken, and then we all went to the chapel. Josh's aunt and uncle and their family, as well as another uncle, joined us there. In the chapel, we sang a song (conducted by Josh's mom) had a prayer, and listened to a talk. After a while we all trekked back to the Relief Society room where Josh and his dad entered the water and Josh was baptized.
After Josh and his Dad had dried off and changed into dry clothes, they returned to the chapel where the meeting continued with another talk, and then hands were laid on Josh's head and he received the gift of the Holy Ghost. Some more words were spoken, another song was sung and Josh's dad said the closing prayer, and the meeting was over. Some people were talked to, some more pictures were taken, and eventually Josh and his family, including grandparents, aunt, uncles and cousins, returned to Josh's house for lunch and an enjoyable afternoon.
That afternoon, Josh's mom made a cake, and Josh's sister helped decorate it. After a dinner of pizza, Josh opened presents, and then blew out the eight candles on his cake.

Happy 8th Birthday Joshua!
