Summer - One Month In

Summer began for us about a month ago. The time has passed quickly, I think.

We celebrated Memorial Day by going to the park and having hamburgers for dinner.
I had a birthday. Don't ask how old I am... I don't remember any more. I received gift cards to JoAnn and Hobby Lobby that I made use of. I also received new flip flops, ice cream and yogurt, post-it notes, a big package of Kit Kats, a new serving spoon (our old one had broken) and a scented candle.

John and Josh went to Cub Scout Day Camp. I did too, one of the days. They played games, learned skills, shot arrows and make crafts. I think they had a lot of fun.

Notice the cool building in the background!

The pool opened a couple weeks ago after some major renovations, and we've been swimming quite a bit since then. With the 100+ degree weather we've been having, the pool has been a relief.

We had our roof replaced, but in the process of fixing the roof, the men somehow pushed down on a vent or pipe and cracked the ceiling in our hall bathroom. It took a week or so, but that was finally repaired as well.

Peter turned 7! He received several fun gifts, but his favorites were Spike the Dinosaur - a huge walking and roaring remote controlled dinosaur, and Oscar the monkey, a stuffed animal with his own house attached. He also received a bear, a duck, some origami ties, a yo-yo, a T-shirt with his name on it, a ball, jellybeans and a barbie doll that he didn't know what to do with. He had a chocolate monkey pie (cake) for dessert.

We've gone to the library several times. Hannah attended a glow-in-the-dark activity there where she decorated a shirt with glow-in-the-dark paint, as well as participating in various other activities.

Steven is in his last term at school, and has had some interviews. No job offers yet, but hopefully something will come together soon.

Some raccoons entertained the kids one afternoon.
The kids have played with Legos and Guess Who a lot this summer. Hannah has had a few lemonade stands. We've gone to parks, went to free ice cream day at a local frozen yogurt shop and frequently participate in the free lunch program at a nearby school.
