The Winds of Change

As I've mentioned before, Steven has been searching for a job for the last couple months. Over the last couple weeks, he has interviewed with a company called MC Dean, located in Dulles, Virginia. Yesterday morning, Steven received a phone call from them with a preliminary job offer. Steven accepted the offer, and now he is working to complete the drug tests, background checks, etc, after which the company will fly him out to Virginia to meet the big-wigs. (His interviews with this company were done via video chat.) After that, if there are no hiccups, we will move our family there and he will begin work. Life has suddenly become a whirlwind of thoughts, emotions, to-do lists, and wonder. I am tremendously grateful that Steven has found a job. He feels less stressed and worried, I feel less stressed and worried. Soon, we will have money coming in again. This is a very, very good thing. I wonder why it had to be Virginia. Of Boys and Beds

Friday evening we went to the furniture store to buy a bed for Peter. It's about time. Way back when John was a tiny baby sleeping in a bassinet, we bought a Little Red Bed (LRB). It was a toddler sized bed. I think it was used because the mattress was already a bit torn in spots. Hannah loved it because it was just her size. We moved Hannah out of the crib and onto the LRB so that John could have the crib. Life was good. She slept on that bed until we moved to our condo here. Eventually Peter came along and needed the crib and Josh was old enough for a bed. Hannah was reaching an age where she didn't want to share her room with her little brothers, so we bought her a day bed (without the trundle that fit under it) and moved her into the room that had been our office. Josh skipped the LRB and went straight to the bottom bunk of the b...

Moving On, But not moving yet

The house we saw and loved and which was the inspiration for putting our condo on the market is under contract. Just not to us. We thought we had everything figured out. My parents offered to loan us the money for the new house, which meant that we could rent our condo if it didn't sell, and so we decided to go ahead and put an offer on the house. We called our real estate agent, but he was out of town but said he would refer us to another agent who could help us. We waited a day or two for her to call, and then decided we would go ahead and call the agent who held the listing for the house ourselves. By the time we got in contact with her, she informed us that the house was just barely out of negotiations with someone else. The house was under contract. That was last week Monday. I cried. Since then we've been searching the real estate listings online, but haven't found anything that even comes close to that beautiful house. Our options are severely limited by the fact tha...
