A Peek into my Subconscious

I've been interested in dreams lately. I had an idea for a story about dreams, and then started researching to learn more about them, and in the process started recording my own dreams and then looking up interpretations for them. If the interpretations are valid, I think my subconscious is frustrated with my life as it is today and is hankering for some kind of change. For example, after family scripture reading this morning, Steven left with the older boys to go to seminary and Peter and I went back to our beds. I had an interesting dream, and when I woke up, I wrote it down, and later I looked up symbols. This is what I dreamed this morning (Symbols are quoted from  Dream Moods Dream Dictionary ): I slowly made my way through deep puddles ( Puddle: To see a puddle in your dream represents feelings that have been downplayed and overlooked. Although these feelings may appear minor, it is worthwhile to address them before it erupts unexpectedly.)   and mud ( Mud: To ...

Josh, the Airplane Pilot

Image
Is it Halloween already? Not quite. But we did pull out our winter hats and scarves and stuff  a couple days ago and this is how Josh chose to dress for school yesterday, and today.  He's been talking a lot lately about an airplane he wants to build, and this morning he gave me a list of materials he will need: wood, motor, gears, pipe, switch, and car battery. (I'm not sure what he was planning on doing with his plane after that - strapping it to the top of the car, maybe?) Until he is able to acquire the materials (and perhaps the know-how) to build his plane, however, he is content to drive the green machine, something we picked up at a garage sale a few months ago. Incidentally, this is what the slope ...

Recurring Dreams

Sometimes it was smooth and easy going. Sometimes there were rapids and it seemed like a roller coaster ride. Early on, my dreams frequently ended with my shooting towards a dark cave or hole in the ground. Later, I would go down through the cave and eventually come out in a peaceful lagoon or beach below. A few years ago, I started having dreams of wanting to take a shower and being unable to for various reasons. Sometimes I would be in a public place - like at a kiosk in a busy mall, with people walking through constantly. Other times I would be at home or in a relative's home, but the bathroom doors wouldn't lock or latch, and people would be walking through continuously. Sometimes, I would just keep getting distracted, knowing that I wanted to shower, but somehow never actually gett...
