June 2013 at a glance

This month has seemed really crazy busy. I've blogged about most of the big events, but here is the entire month at a glance:
  • Josh and Peter went to cub scout day camp for three days. It was supposed to be four, but one day was cold and slightly sprinkling, and they cancelled it. I went on one day to help.
  • Hannah got her hair cut.
  • John attended the swimming portion of his 11 year old scout camp, while I attended a parent meeting for it.
  • Steven and I scrambled to get the name tags for the Trek ready in time. Even the kids helped to type some of the pioneer stories.
  • Steven had his last day at his contract job with GHX.
  • Steven and Hannah went on a Pioneer Trek for four days.
  • While Steven was at Trek, our 15th anniversary came and went quietly.
  • Josh and Peter got to help our scouts put up flags on Flag Day.
  • We pulled out the LEGOs from hiding to play with.  (They went back into hiding yesterday.)
  • We celebrated Fathers Day.
  • Steven continued his job search.
  • Steven started helping out a friend from our ward, working at his "Rent to Own" store. He was even more motivated to find a real job.
  • Peter had a birthday and turned 8!
  • We attended a stake picnic, at which Hannah got to help by bringing cookies she had baked, as well as doing face painting.
  • We had the missionaries over for dinner.
  • Peter had his baptismal interview with our bishop.
  • Steven was released from his calling as primary teacher, and I was called to be a Relief Society teacher. We will continue to serve as Webelos Den Leaders, and I will continue to play the piano in Relief Society.
  • Steven met with recruiters and had a few phone interviews.
  • Steven interviewed with a company in the morning on Thursday (the 27th), and was offered a contract position that afternoon. He has decided to accept. It is with a company called Merrick, that does engineering type stuff for the government I think. The contract is for 3-6 months, with a possibility of being hired on permanently after that.
  • John attended 11 year old scout camp. Thursday was an all day (7:30am-5:00pm) event at our stake center, and then they left at 7:30am on Friday to head to the campground for the remainder of the camp. On Friday, Steven went along to supervise since John's scout leader had to work.
Amongst all these big(ger) events, we've had all our normal day-to-day summer things.
  • The school offers free lunches on weekdays to kids up to age 18. We've taken advantage of that several times.
  • We've gone swimming a few times each week.
  • Playing with LEGOs has been a continual thing.
  • We go to the library at least weekly for new books to read and movies to watch.
  • We play games on the computer, like Poptropica and Peggle.
  • We straighten the house daily and do the other household chores - meals, laundry, cat care, etc.
  • Josh and Peter have been working on a puppet show, even filming a "behind the scenes" video.
  • Hannah has been in the kitchen almost every day making something. In the past month she has baked bread, rolls, brownies and cookies and made fudge and homemade ice cream.
  • I've made several new pieces of jewelry and crocheted a bag. I started knitting a scarf with a cool pattern.
  • I've been working on adding a viola part to the Pioneer Medley I wrote a year or so ago. (I'm trying to encourage Hannah to practice her viola over the summer.)
  • I successfully completed my goal of indexing 3000 names in 3 months for FamilySearch.
The month of July is looking to be a busy one as well, but life is good and we are looking forward to what will come.
