Crazy Busy Saturday
Saturday was a busy day for us. We got up and dressed, then set out for the church to help with an Eagle project for a young man in our ward.
For his project, he had collected pieces of fleece for blankets, so on Saturday, we got to cut strips on the sides and then knot them to make blankets for the Children's Hospital. The patients at the hospital would receive the blankets and even be able to bring them home with them. By the time we finished, there were about 68 blankets finished.
When we left the church, we went to the home of friends in the ward who were having a garage sale. It wasn't for sale, but they had a tandem bike that they were kind enough to let us ride around. That was fun. After playing with their bike and their drum set, we eventually bought a stuffed cow, a hiking pack thing, and a fancy tricycle (a green machine).
From there, we went to the library and got books and a couple movies to keep us entertained in the coming week.
Finally, we returned home, slightly exhausted. I made a potato salad, and Steven removed the seats from the van, and then he and Hannah went to the Mission President's home to collect a set of couches that they no longer wanted. They brought them home and we moved our old couch out to the playroom (which I had cleaned the day before), and moved the new couches into the living room.
Once we were recovered from the rigors of moving furniture, I made a shopping list and headed to the grocery store for a few things we needed for that evening and the coming week. Steven started making dinner.
Our ward is having a forty day fast this month. Participating families sign up on a calendar to have the missionaries over for dinner. On the day that the missionaries were to come, we fast for the missionary work in our ward. Then the missionaries join us for dinner, when we end our fast. Saturday was our day to have the missionaries over for dinner. Our ward now has four missionaries, so we got to set up the card table and scrounge extra chairs so everyone would have a seat. Dinner was ready, the missionaries arrived, and we had a nice dinner.
After dinner and after the missionaries had left, I took Hannah and we went clothes shopping. By the time Hannah and I got home I was ready for bed. It had been a long, fun, exhausting day.

Peter was bored a lot, but even he helped to tie knots around the edges of the blankets. |
